Wireless control of the central transfer cart in the logistics center
In large logistics centers, transfer carts move goods at high speeds through long warehouse aisles. Controlling these carts places the highest demands on wireless communication, both in terms of performance and safety.

Menu
Task
The planned wireless control of multiple high-speed transfer carts via a standard Wi-Fi network did not meet the requirements of the control and safety architecture. A wireless solution was needed that would ensure deterministic performance and consistent safety throughout the entire operating area, even at high cart speeds.
Implementation
R3 Solutions implemented the system within the limited available installation space and enabled seamless connectivity across the entire 150-meter-long aisle despite the high speed of the carts. Safety data is transmitted via FSoE, while control is handled via EtherCAT—with a latency of 16 milliseconds and seamless roaming with continuous real-time control.
Result
The solution ensures maximum availability for this critical warehouse application, even if individual carts fail. The remaining carts can continue to use the entire aisle continuously, making operations robust and fail-safe.
