Robot Emergency Kit

Your protection against sudden production downtime. If a cable or tool connection on the robot fails, the Robot Emergency Kit bridges the faulty section in minutes and keeps production running. Plug-and-play, based on proven EchoRing technology.

Overview

Robots stop working when cables fail or tool connections unexpectedly fail. The Robot Emergency Kit enables production to resume immediately. Multiple Bridge-E units with EchoRing technology serve as a bypass solution and ensure reliable transmission of production data. In this way, the kit ensures uninterrupted operation of the respective system, even over extended periods, until the actual repair can be carried out during the next scheduled maintenance window.

Instead of lengthy diagnostic and repair times—which result in correspondingly high production downtime—it takes only a few minutes to resume operation. The kit is based on the Bridge E and thus on technology that transmits control data deterministically and with cable-like reliability.

What's Included?

The Robot Emergency Kit contains all the hardware components needed to immediately bypass a faulty cable section:

  • Bridge-E units with EchoRing technology to bypass the failed connection
  • Antennas and installation cables for the respective Bridge-E units
  • Device-specific adapter kits, for example for PROFINET communication
  • Mounting accessories for individually securing the Bridge-E units to the robot

The scope of the solution can be tailored to the customer’s specific requirements. The Robot Emergency Kit is compatible with common robot systems.

How the emergency response works

Unlike a pre-planned radio solution, the Robot Emergency Kit is designed for rapid response in an emergency:

1. Preparation

The kit is kept on-site and is prepared and configured for the existing robot systems.

2. Bridging

In the event of a cable failure, the Bridge-E wireless modules replace the faulty connection in just a few minutes. Production continues with minimal interruption.

3. Ensuring Continued Operation

The wireless connection keeps operations running until the actual repair can be carried out as scheduled.

Key Features

Ready to Use in Minutes

Installed and ready to go in less than ten minutes when needed, instead of long diagnostic and repair times.

Cable-like performance

Transmits control protocols such as PROFINET deterministically and with low latency based on EchoRing technology.

Also suitable for continuous operation

Not only provides a short-term workaround, but also ensures continued operation over extended periods until scheduled repairs.

Flexible and compatible

Customizable to meet specific customer requirements and compatible with common robot systems.

The Heart of Your Wireless Infrastructure

The Robot Emergency Kit is used wherever a failure in a cable connection on a robot could jeopardize production:

  • Gripper control in automotive body manufacturing
  • Tool and drag chain connections on industrial robots
  • Welding robots and handling applications

Success Stories

Wireless Robot Control for Auto Body Shops

In auto body manufacturing, robots equipped with grippers perform key work steps. The gripper control system relies on cables and connectors that are subject to regular wear and tear. If these fail during continuous operation, the system comes to a standstill, resulting in enormous follow-up costs.
