Edge X
Edge X is the wireless platform for AGV/AMR control and mobile broadband data transmission. Thanks to the high-performance NXP Wi-Fi 6E chip, integrated CAN bus converter, four I/Os each, and optional soft PLC, the Edge X is the perfect all-in-one wireless communication solution in the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. As the world’s only Wi-Fi 6E client, it offers a full-featured gNMI and NETCONF API for efficient fleet management.
Overview
Edge X is the high-performance wireless platform for industrial control data and broadband applications. As a fully configurable Wi-Fi 6E client with micro-access-point functionality, it combines wireless communication, data conversion, and control in a single compact device.
It thus replaces the previously standard combination of a PLC, communication unit, and separate converter. This reduces costs, space requirements, cabling, and complexity.
Edge X demonstrates its strengths wherever mobile applications place high demands on roaming and configurability. The full-featured gNMI/NETCONF API enables remote configuration and real-time monitoring without SSH access, but with support for Python, Go, C++, and other scripting languages. Additionally, IoT data can be aggregated and forwarded directly at the edge via MQTT.
Thanks to its compact housing, front-facing ports only, and flexible mounting options (wall mount or DIN rail), Edge X integrates quickly and in a space-saving manner into existing systems—for example, to control AGV and AMR fleets or mobile production platforms.
As part of the Edge Family, the Edge X is based on the powerful i.MX8 processor, offers numerous inputs and outputs, and is specifically designed for mobile applications. In addition to the currently available Edge X with Wi-Fi 6E, a DECT-NR+ variant (Edge D), a Wi-Fi 7 variant (Edge 7), and an EchoRing variant (Edge E) will follow.
