Bridge E

Bridge E transmits safety and control data wirelessly with the reliability of a wired connection—deterministic, real-time capable, and compatible with all Ethernet-based industrial protocols. Works like a cable, but without the cable.

Overview

As a communication solution for monorail conveyor systems, skillet lines, and AGV/AMR applications worldwide, Bridge E is the proven solution for your functional safety and control applications. It adapts seamlessly to your industrial requirements and delivers the reliability of wired networks in automation systems.

It truly shines where minimal latency and maximum reliability are required. It ensures the delay-free execution of automated processes and the transmission of Ethernet-based protocols such as PROFINET, PROFIsafe, EtherNet/IP, CIP SAFETY, SafetyNET p, CC-Link Safety, EtherCAT, etc.

Whether as a retrofit or a new installation, Bridge E is flexible and can be integrated into virtually any industrial facility with minimal setup effort. Robotic arms, conveyor systems, and automated warehousing and order-picking systems are just a few examples of applications that can be connected wirelessly.

The Bridge E is based on a Texas Instruments WiLink-8 chip that has been modified via software. R3 Solutions is the only company worldwide to have been granted access to the source code for this chip.

Key Features

Cable-like performance (uRLLC)

Real-time communication and reliability (packet loss rate: 0.000000001%) enable use in sensitive safety applications.

Zero-Latency Roaming

Thanks to advanced resource reservation algorithms and location-based handovers, transitions between subnets in an EchoRing network occur without any delay whatsoever. With no geographical limitations. Over kilometers.

High Protocol Compatibility

The Black Channel principle enables the transmission of nearly all Ethernet protocols. (e.g., PROFINET, PROFIsafe, EtherNet/IP, CIP SAFETY, SafetyNET p, CC-Link Safety, EtherCAT, etc.)

Success Stories

Wirelessly Controlled Monorail System

A Canadian automotive supplier operates a monorail suspension system at its plant in the U.S., which plays a key role in ensuring smooth production and logistics. The control system for this system was to be implemented via radio.

Wireless Robot Control for Auto Body Shops

In auto body manufacturing, robots equipped with grippers perform key work steps. The gripper control system relies on cables and connectors that are subject to regular wear and tear. If these fail during continuous operation, the system comes to a standstill, resulting in enormous follow-up costs.

Collaborative AGVs in the Cleanroom

Large-format, highly sensitive workpieces often cannot be transported by a single vehicle. In the cleanroom of an optical systems manufacturer, two AGVs therefore handle the transport together, connected to each other via real-time radio communication through a virtual drawbar. Precisely controlled, highly cooperative, and with all necessary safety precautions in place.
